Zack Attack

I recently started watching all the old episodes of Saved By the Bell on TBS and supplementing episodes from YouTube.  As you know this is my absolute favorite show of all time.  I may have also mentioned once or a thousand times how much I loved Zack Morris and how I was fully convinced we were made for each other (still am)
That being said...I can't even describe the emotion I experienced as I came upon the "Friends Forever" episode. You may or may not remember this was the episode where Zack imagines that his band "Zack Attack" makes it to the big leagues.Someone please tell me you remember this too?

I had this episode saved on the DVR for 2 1/2 years and I think I still have it on a DVD somewhere.  I made a point to watch it at least once a week and forced anyone who asked "Which episode of Saved by the Bell is this?" when they flipped past it in the menu, to sit and watch the entire thing, complete with me giving small bits of information that could only possibly be gathered from watching it over 150 times.

If you ever get a chance...please watch this episode....and when you do....take a look at how much more committed to his role Slater is than Screech.  Dustin Diamond sloppily sleepwalks his way through the episode while Mario Lopez actually plays the correct drum beats and never misses any moment with his lines.
Just a powerhouse Lopez performance.

I would like to share some of my favorite moments from this episode....when I die...please just have these playing on an endless loop at my funeral ok?  Thanks.

this was their defiant, angry "we hate Zack and his big ego but we love his hair"
performance

this was at the end when they got back together and realized they would indeed SPOILER ALERT
be friends forever

Happy Weekend!!!

A Jon Hamm Moment

We interrupt your regularly scheduled Blog viewing for another Jon Hamm moment....
As you were.

Public Apology to Diet Coke

As you all know...I've always had a deep and passionate love for Diet Coke.  On numerous occasions it has actually saved either my life or the lives of the people around me.
One day I was shopping at my local market.  I just wanted a 20 oz of something.  None of the Diet Cokes were cold. But there among the other beverages it sat.  The hot blonde 20 something in the bar to my 40 year old mid life crisis male.
Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper

And that was the start of my adulterous affair.

So I want to take this time to publicly apologize to Diet Coke.  I am deeply sorry.  We've been through this before with Diet Mountain Dew.  We survived it.  We can survive this as well.  You know you'll always be the one I come back to.
Please wait for me.
All my love,
Vanessa

So.....

Apparently 2 Diet Cherry Dr. Peppers in 30 minutes is enough to get me to try and order canned bacon.  I say "try" because it's out of stock.

I watch TV so you don't have to. You're Welcome.

I watch too much TV. This is always the most apparent when I find myself in a loop of one insane show to another and I realize I've just spent 3 hours of my time being totally mindless.  So...to save you from my same fate I would like to share what you've missed this week in television.

First....Teen Mom 2 on MTV
What a filthy hot mess.  Here is the run-down:

How horrible of a person would I be if I said that the Kailyn girl has the ugliest baby I've ever seen?  And how horrible are you for agreeing with me?
Are all the baby daddys trying out for the next season of Tool Academy?  Like...are these their audition tapes?  If so...it's in the bag.  Except for camo-wearing, bad teeth, redneck guy.  He's super sweet.....but....you can't really look like that and be a douche.

Leah and Corey and their twin girls are adorable and awesome.  Don't ever change!!!

Jenelle and her lip pierced boyfriend toking it up in the car....super classy.  And a good way to show your speech-impediment Mom what a responsible adult you are.

Hey Jenelle...here are some of my favorite pictures of you and your Mom
How sweet.

The cops showed up for a domestic dispute so.....you know it's a good time.

Then there's always a sappy end montage....wow.  That was fun.

Now onto American Idol

First of all....getting rid of Kara Dioihatedyousomuchi'msogladyou'regone  or DioGuardi....was the BEST thing they ever did. The combo of her and Randy was just too much.

And replacing her with Jenny from the Block and Steven "bedroom eyes" Tyler....GENIUS!

Now...that being said.  American idol kids you crafty jerks....seducing me and pulling me in by singing ALL my favorite songs.  It's just not fair.

Beard guy....I love you.  Don't ever change.

Country girl...you're the only girl I like.

Weird guy....I love you.  Don't ever change.

Paul McDonald: Come Pick Me Up - Performances (click on that....just....watch him)

Then...we had another guy
who said he was going to sing R.Kelly...so naturally I'm thinking he's going to sing "Ignition"...(it's the remix to ignition...hot 'n fresh out the kitchen...c'mon you know you're singing) aka...the best song R.Kelly ever sang....but NO..."I Believe I Can Fly"....BOORRRINNNGGG  and SO typical.  I believe you can fly....far far away (he does have an incredible voice however...so good job for that.)

Next girl is all..."I'm going to sing Michael Jackson" so I'm thinking "Dirty Diana" aka my favorite MJ song of all time.  But NO...."Smile" which actually belongs to Charlie Chaplin....GET OFF THE STAGE!!!

Let's see what this next kid is going to deliver....it better be good.....
....nope.
He reminded me of David Archuleta only less gay.  Or maybe more.  Either way...it hurt me.

Then the Latina girl gets up and sings a Selena song...way to break the stereotype.

Everyone shhhh.....my country boy lover is on next......
J.Lo is seducing my country boy lover with her eyes...and so is Steven Tyler....step off he's mine!!!!

Then came nasty dredlocks girl....who says she's going to sing Rihanna (shocker).
Who wants to bet it's going to be "Love the Way You Lie"?
Oh no....no....please Alah no....not Umbrella....
I really think she got her outfit from a dumpster like...for real.  And now she's Rastafarian rapping.....STOP PLEASE NOW

If Randy says "yo" one more time...I'm gonna burn this mother down...yo.

Now Steven Tyler is seducing me with his eyes...and I like it.

Then teeny tiny Ryan Seacrest came on....vote..blah blah blah...I'm 4'2"...blah blah blah.
The end.

That was a hot mess.  Speaking of hot messes....has anyone seen Paula Abdul lately?
Oh Paula.
I miss you.

Now I'm going to watch the new season of Real World and Jersey Shore....never before have I been so grateful that the herp cannot be transferred through television.

Until next time!  Keep your remotes nearby and your HPV shots up to date.

And just for fun...here's a video of Steven Tyler molesting girls with his words.

lesson learned

Here's a lesson I learned tonight.
Be careful what you say and what you share.  Everyone doesn't always wish you well unfortunately.
Also...working with a lot of women...is really hard.

The End.

Dear Tom Brady

Dear Tom Brady,

I see you're still fighting masculinity with the addition of the ponytail.  Congrats, you're winning.

Sincerely,
Vanessa

The Bachelor: Women Tell Us (once again) Not So Much

They should have named this season of The Bachelor "We All Have Daddy Issues" especially after the "Women Tell All" episode..  Have I mentioned a million times in the past how much I hate this episode?  It's the worst!  The women just sit in a circle and cry and act like it's perfectly normal for them to still be emotionally distraught over being rejected.  Guess what....IT'S NOT.  Just ask Brad's therapist.  I'm sure he would agree.

Chris Harrison opens up the show and he's added a new little hair spike.  Tres chic Chris....
He then announces that somewhere out there (hopefully on the same island as the smoke monster from "Lost") there is an entire "Bachelor Nation" of 500 people!  Basically it's Bachelor/Bachelorette rejects who now provide an endless supply of nasty for "The Bachelor Pad".
We then are shown a weird montage where so many things flash in front of me I just don't even know what's happening....and then I see him....crazy maybe deaf frog voice guy who is there to guard and protect some hearts....Mr. Crazy Tattoo Kasey everyone!  Now this is getting good....then we get to see Rozlyn (Ms. "I swear I didn't kiss a producer Chris!") and the guy who looked like he could be the Manning brothers even uglier brother, and Cross- Eyed Sausage is there too (I'm so shocked).
Then we get to see crazy Deaf Frog Voice Kasey make out with that tiara girl Erica from the season with the Prince!  He looks like he's guarding and protecting her tongue.
We get to hear this awesome quote "Vienna was best friends with Gia and slept with Wes behind her back" What is happening!??!
End montage.  This show is all downhill from here because that was fantastic.  That should've been it's own show.  Oh yeah, it is.  It's the Bachelor Pad.
Chris introduces the dumpees and once again I don't remember a lot of them.  Ashley H. got a weird make over that looks terrible...her hair is brown and she's made the unfortunate decision to go with bangs.  Brad was right to send her home.

Marissa speaks!  She's talking more tonight than she did in the 6 episodes she was on!

Everyone starts ganging up on Michelle which causes Michelle to break down...which causes Ashley to break down.  It's like the chewing tobacco/tilt-a-whirl scene from The Sandlot except with mascara.

For some reason Chris then brings the man Melissa down to sit in the "hot seat".  Man she looks like a man.

He keeps asking questions about her fight with the man-scaper and she doesn't really have anything to say.  The man-scaper blames the man for "ruining her chances with Brad" because "we REALLY had a connection!".  No I'm sorry it was actually your face that ruined your chances.

The man cries...we're at 3

Then it's uni-bomber 2 aka Michelle's turn in the hot seat.  She's already crying.  Stacy the bartender is still holding a grudge bigger than her nose about being rejected and apparently feels the need to express this grudge through hostility.  Towards Michelle.
I know Michelle was crazy but I kind of feel bad for her.  Especially after a lot of the girls said that you had to know Michelle because most of what she said during the season was just her sense of humor.  I can get that.  Especially when you have the majority of the house saying it.
Michelle gives a quote that pretty much sums up the evening "Did I really want Chantal to get attacked by monkeys!? No!"
A debate breaks out about Michelle's mothering because she left her daughter and is Emily getting brought into this?  No.  Why?  I guess because she didn't wish for monkey attacks.
Then it's finally over.  They spent way too much time and Kleenex on that.

Ashley S. is now in the "hot seat" and immediately cries and then whines about all her bad relationships.  Umm...you got to hang out with Seal ok cry baby so dry it up!  She wants more closure with Brad....the closure was...you didn't get a rose.

Ashely H. is next.  She cries.  That's 5.  She explains she was worried and insecure and she held back and she has a lot of regrets and meanwhile the producers are playing up their creepy carnival date like it was Leo and Kate on the freaking Titanic.

Finally Brad comes out and I can't believe they didn't have Shawntel to talk AT ALL.  Are you serious!?

They talk to Brad....Brad loves everyone..everyone loves Brad.  They show the blooper reel and it's good...there is a cameo by Brad's twin brother Chad...the most shocking Bachelor finale ever would be that it's actually been Chad the whole time.

Next week is the FINALE!!!  I'm really excited.  It's got to be Emily right???  You can't reject her!  You also can't look at Emily and Chantal in their dresses and pick Chantal.

Until next time!!!!

another reason why i love my days off

I love my days off for a number of reasons but my current #1 reason would be Instant Netflix and them having all complete seasons of Friday Night Lights.

I started watching it on a whim when I was bored because I saw it on the list and I remembered my friend Beth telling me she really liked it.  Since I fully trust Beth and everything she says I decided to give it a try.  And I'm SO glad I did.  What a phenomenal show.  It never got very high ratings....and a couple seasons only have like 13 episodes.  But it is incredible.  NBC is airing the 5th (and final) season starting April 15th so there is still time to get caught up!  You won't be sorry that you did.
I will now bombard your eyes with teasers...anyone who doesn't want to watch this show after watching these....are people I don't care to associate with.

And this one for the final episode...which makes me cry everytime I watch it....

new obsessions

I thought I would share some more beauty products I am currently obsessed with....since it's been awhile.  I would also like to state that I don't share these just because I work in cosmetics.  I share them because they really are freaking amazing.  How's that for a disclaimer?

1. Sparkle Skin- Clinique $21

This is the greatest body exfoliator of ALL TIME..  You just scrub it all over in the shower and your skin will be SO soft when you get out.  Thanks to my friend Kathryn who advised that you use it while shaving instead of soap or shaving cream...you will get the closest, softest, most wonderful shave of your life.  Trust me.

2. Definicils Pro- Lancome $25

Lancome's Definicils has been the #1 selling mascara in the world for the last 20 years.  We dominate the mascara market.  I love the pro version of it because the curved brush lifts the lashes at the base but you still get amazing definition and separation.

3. Advanced Night Repair Eye- Estee Lauder $49.50

Such an awesome eye cream.  Helps fade lines/wrinkles/discoloration and helps moisturize.

4. Eye Brightening All in One 5 shadow & liner palette- Lancome $48

These palettes come in 12 different color combos and they actually help brighten the eye because the colors coordinate to help the eyes pop.  They are super smooth and the color is vibrant.  The texture is literally amazing...like butter.  8 hour wear, no creasing....it also comes with a little guide to show you a day look and a night look.  They are so super easy and beautiful.....I have 3 of them.  I may have a problem.  But seriously..they can't be beat.

5. Sea Star Bronzing Blush- Estee Lauder $34
The color is so pretty and luminous.  A bronzer without looking too dark or fake.  Adds a nice soft glow to the face.

6. The Milly Collection- Clinique
Eye shadow/blush compact- $36
Long Lasting Gloss- $14
I'm super obsessed with these colors.  The gloss is called "Milly pink" and it is like the perfect pink gloss.  The bag that the compact comes in is super adorable too and the colors are PERFECT.  This is only a limited edition collection so be sure to get one.

7. Oscillation Powerfoundation- Lancome $48
Words can not even express how in love I am with this foundation.  It's a mineral foundation but the brush vibrates to break down the minerals before you apply.  It goes on so smooth and natural...it has a buildable coverage too so you can go very light or add for a fuller coverage.  It's SO AWESOME.  14 hour wear, not messy or cakey.  Makes your skin look smoother, softer, and healthier.  I absolutely love it!!!!

8. CK Free Model- Priceless
We have a display of him up in the store right now.  I've named him Travis.  Sometimes I like to just stand and look at him for awhile.  I won't blame you if you just keep this page open for a minute or two.

Trying ANY of these products is highly recommended....except for Travis.  He belongs to me.

Happy Birthday Sister!

Today is my sister's 21st birthday
Some fun facts about my sister
  • She is a Pisces - I don't know exactly what that means but it must mean something
  • She loves bacon...and cheeseburgers.  What she really loves are bacon cheeseburgers.  And she loves them a lot.
  • She bites her nails down to nubbins.  When you are able to see the white part of her nails...it's a big deal.
  • She's the worst finder ever...if you send her on a mission to go find something...she will always say that she can't find it.  When you go look in the exact same place...it is inevitably there.  We don't know why she is this way but my little brother shares the same trait.
  • She is really really funny.  We laugh a lot together.
  • She loves music.
  • She loves cats.  Like really really loves cats.  I have an app on my iPod called "Cat Paint" and I made this picture for her

And here are pictures of her with various cats in real life.  I told you...she really loves cats.

  • My sister is very pretty as evidenced in these next photos

I mean honestly...I'm not sure how Tyra Banks has not cast her on America's Next Top Model yet....

In all seriousness I don't know what I would do without my sister.  She is the Peanut Butter to my Jelly, the Beyonce to my Britney, the JWOWW to my Snooki
I miss her very much and I hope she has a fabulous birthday even if it's without us!  I love you sister!!!!
And as you can see...my sister is actually very very very pretty.

just a reminder

For when your (my)  hair is doing that funky thing, none of your (my) clothes look right, and your (my) make up looks like that of a Vegas showgirl for no apparent reason.
Sometimes we all need a reminder that it's what's on the inside that counts.

Even if what's on the inside is mostly Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper

Papa

Today is my Papa's birthday (grandpa on my Mom's side).  I guess I should say it would be his birthday.  His 72nd birthday.  My Papa passed away when I was 6.  I still remember his funeral.  Papa was the greatest man in the entire world.  I thought I would share some pictures and stories about my Papa.  Most of these were taken from my Mom's blog- I wanted my friends to know all these things about this amazing man as well.  This is the account my Mom shared about her Dad.

72 years ago today, my Dad was born in Wichita, Kansas. My Dad had a pretty rough childhood, moving to California at some point while he was still fairly young.  He was the only child of a second marriage, having 4 older sisters and one older brother. He lived in San Fransisco as a child and had to get a job to help support his mom when his Dad died while is San Quentin. My Dad was 12.

He was a hard worker who loved his family. He was in the Air Force as a policeman. He became a salesman. He loved sports. He was once offered a "loan" by an acquaintance who was in the mafia in Detroit. He once had a phone call from Magic Johnson's mom. She wanted to build a swimming pool. He thought it was a fake so he didn't take her seriously. No pool.
He was involved in Indian Guides (Anybody remember that?) and hockey with my brothers. He was involved with my drill team.

When I was 21 I fell in love with Kevin Bacon and I had  seen "Footloose" 3 times in one weekend...it was true love! Shortly after that I came home from work and taped to my bedroom door was the PEOPLE magazine with Kevin Bacon on the cover...my Dad had bought it for me :0) I still have that PEOPLE magazine.

My Dad had several reversals in fortune. He was in a car accident that left him permanently disabled--the other driver was at fault and had no insurance. He started his own business with a partner who then ran off with all the money leaving my Dad severely in debt. He was trying to go back to school and support 3 kids. It was very difficult, but only now do I appreciate how difficult.
When I got married, I wanted my best friend to be there as my Maid of Honor as I had been hers. She was a young mother of 2 children and not living in the same state. She would have to fly, but that would be a hardship on her tiny families' finances. Without much fanfare, my Dad sold our camper and bought her ticket so she could be there.

My Dad's legacy lives on...he was a terrific and generous man who loved to laugh and be outside with his family eating a good meal.
I love my Dad. He left us too soon. I am so grateful for the knowledge of the Gospel and the promise of Eternal Families.

I would like to add to this and say that one of my favorite memories of him is that he used to work at Christmas time as a mall Santa.  He was the only Santa whose lap I would sit on as a kid and not scream.  I'm so grateful for this man. He blessed everyone he was around. It used to make me so sad to think of him not being around as I grew up. As I've gotten older I've learned a lot of things that him and I have in common.
We both loved to put ice in our milk to make it nice and cold and we both stuff TONS of saltine crackers in our tomato soup so that it's more cracker than soup. I like learning these little things and hearing all the stories about what an incredible person he was and I'm sure...is.
So Happy Birthday Papa. We miss you terribly.

Papa when he was young...he was very handsome.  He's always reminded me of Johnny Cash

I love this picture because I can tell they both really love me...

I made this video one time when I was really missing my grandma.  I like knowing that the 2 of them are together.
