wednesday review on thursday...

So for this week's review I'll be reviewing some truly wonderful/terrible things so let's get started!

1.) Teen Mom (from last week)
The first thing you should know is that Amber and Gary have been back together for an entire week so obviously they are celebrating by buying a house together.

Ah that look of love.

They decide to take a family vacation and their in-car banter is stimulating...goes something like this:
"Look Amber...pumpkins"
"Shut the &%#@ up Gary you talk too fast!"
"Amber shut your %$&#*@% mouth!"
"$&%@#$*& Gary you are so annoying!"

Family vacations rock.

Tyler and Catelynn are also getting an apartment together.  Tyler loves powder blue bathrooms and cabinet space.  They find the perfect apartment and proceed to decorate with this

Why yes...that is a giant blanket with their baby's face on it.  All the design rage right now.

Farrah is still whining.  This time it's about being a model.  Here she is "modeling"

She also had a heart to heart with her daughter about braised ribs.  If I could count all the times I had girl talk with my mom where we discussed ways to cook meat....good times.

2.) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
It was so amazing right!?  I went with my friend Jack and we both cried.  A lot.  It was sad and beautiful and wonderful.  An amazing end to an amazing story.

3.) Lancome Oscillation Intensity mascara - $25

I received this mascara for gratis from Lancome and I wasn't sure about it.  I LOVE their Hypnose Drama mascara and I just didn't think I would like anything as much.  I was wrong!  I'm in love with this new one.  It gives volume but a nice clean separated volume and so easy to use!  If you get the chance stop by your local Lancome counter and give it a try.  You will be amazed.

That's all for my reviews this week!  I hope you enjoy them!  And just remember who is watching over you...

Sleep well....

wednesday review

I decided that I would review some items for you today.  First of all I'd like to share with you a dream I had last night where my leg hair was so long I had to cut it with scissors.  It was like...long blonde horse hair all over my legs.  Needless to say...I shaved today.
Also this lady (on the right of course)

aka my best friend Beth, is in town this week!  We spent last night trolling around yelling at people from the car.  Just like we did when we were 19.  Some things (thankfully) never change.

Anyway back to the reviewing....
First item(s) on review...I re-discovered how awesome Redbox is.  I have Netflix but I always forget to send my movies back.  I still have "The Back Up Plan" so if that tells you how long it's been...(cough august 2010 cough cough cough)
Anyway...I recently saw the following movies and here are my reviews.

I Am Number 4

I didn't know how I would feel about this movie but I ended up LOVING it and watching it 3 times.  It was so so good and I highly recommend it.  It's good for both guys and girls...action and romance.

Beastly

This is the remake of "Beauty and the Beast"...Mary Kate Olsen was in it and her character scared me a little bit and I kept waiting for her to say "you got it dude!" (cue the laughter at my hilarious throwback to Full House joke).  Vanessa Hudgens is also in it and I kept waiting for her to not be....I don't like her.  All in all it was decent.  It's a good movie for girls night.

The Roommate

This was the stupidest movie I've seen in a long time.  Anti-climatic, lame dialogue...you get the idea.  This movie is best for never.

Just Go With It

Very very funny movie and I normally don't care for Adam Sandler.  Good job guys.  This is a great movie to watch with you Mom and little sister....because that's who I watched it with.

Now I'd like to review my absolute favorite lotion of all time
Drenched in Pink by Victoria Secret

Seriously the best lotion ever and I have to say thank you to my friend Rhiannon for introducing me to it.

And last but not least...the Casey Anthony trial.
All I have to say is this...

Following reasons as to why I feel this way
- What parent takes 31 days to call police when their child goes missing???
- There was a full on frozen Stouffer's meal found in her car...umm..what the eff?  I convict her just for that.
- She made up a nanny named Zanny...similar to Dwight making up a dentist named Crentist.

Lady justice wept at that verdict.

That's all for your reviews today!  I hope this is helpful in all your future movie watching, lotion applying, and Nancy Grace viewing.

Bye!

I'm Country Strong

Last weekend I got the opportunity to go and see this movie.
And can I just say.....one of the best movies I've ever seen.  Ever.  First of all you must know....I absolutely ADORE Gwenyth Paltrow.  I adore Tim McGraw, and I adore Leighton Meester.  That being said...all 3 of them were in this movie.  As well as a handsome fellow I'll get to in a minute.  The story is beautiful.  It's about a famous country singer who enters rehab for alcoholism and when she leaves her husband/manager puts her back on tour.   The story is absolutely beautiful and the acting is phenomenal.  GO SEE THIS MOVIE.  Especially if you love country music but even if you don't.  That being said here are 2 of my favorite parts.
This is when Gwenyth's character goes to play for the Make A Wish Foundation for a little boy with leukemia who loves her music.  His name is Travis.  This part made me bawl my eyes out.

Let's also talk about how Gwenyth did all her own singing for this movie. Who knew??? (Well I did because I happen to watch a little show called "Glee" that she happened to guest star on. She was amazing.)

My other favorite is when Leighton Meester's character and Garrett Hedlund's characters do a beautiful duet.  Seriously everything about it is perfect.  The song is just....flawless.  I must say at the beginning of the movie I was watching Garrett's character and I was like...."eh...he's ok...he has way too much hair" and by the end of the movie I was all "Well...I like hair" so....enjoy.  (you might as well just put it on repeat now)

Seriously...if I'm not making my point clear I'll say it one more time...GO SEE THIS MOVIE and if you need someone to go with give me a call...I'm dying to see it again.

A Movie Review

Went and saw this movie.  My opinions are as follows...

Harrison Ford
You are completely brilliant and I love you in everything you do.  And  you were extra brilliant in this movie and you made me tear up a bit.  Even without your hat and whip.

Diane Keaton
You are a complete gem.  I just adore you.

Rachel McAdams
I have such a lesbian crush on you

And you good sir...
Can marry me.

Star Rating: 3.2

The real Disney

Last night I was falling asleep to a movie and they had a preview for the movie 101 Dalmatians...the people version (yes the one that came out in 1994, yes this was a VHS I was watching...yes we still own a VHS player)

And the announcer says "and the most evil villain ever"...about Cruella De Vil....and I thought.....there is no way SHE is the most evil Disney villain ever.  No way. She just wanted a nice fur coat to keep her warm! What's so wrong with that?  I can think of about a thousand villains who were WAY worse.

1.) Evil Step-Mother- Cinderella

What kind of a deranged woman who is supposed to love and take care of you.....lets her ugly daughters rip your beautiful dress off?  Terrible.  Just terrible.

2.) Scar- The Lion King

He KILLED HIS OWN BROTHER and then blamed his nephew.....what a jerk.

3.) Gaston- Beauty and the Beast

What a narcissistic douche.....plus he ate raw eggs....who does that?

4.) The evil witch lady- Sleeping Beauty

She was able to transform herself into a fire-breathing dragon! I never saw Cruella do that.....just sayin.

5.) Hades- Hercules

Oh I'm sorry....isn't he the ruler of the UNDER WORLD??  As in hell?  Whoever RULES HELL should definitely get top billing in the villain department.

6.) Ursula- The Little Mermaid

Sister was messed up. She was all crazy and had a million legs and tried to kill Prince Eric and transformed herself into someone beautiful (named Vanessa.....by the way) and used live creatures for her lipstick.....what a freak (and if you aren't born a Vanessa....don't try to be one....it just won't work for you)

7.)  Shan Yu and the Huns- Mulan

They were single handedly trying to RUIN CHINA  an entire country people!  THEN they sneak into a dragon costume DURING A CELEBRATION to attack the city.  Way to ruin a parade and the hopes and dreams of Chinese children everywhere you JERKS!

8.) Sid- Toy Story

Probably the worst of all.  He dissected toys and lit things on fire....can you say sociopath?  Little kids who are evil are so much worse than anything else who are evil....let's be real here.  I saw "Children of the Corn", "The Omen"....I watch "Criminal Minds"...I know what these creepy kids grow into.  Don't try to convince me of anything less.  Sid wins hands down.

There are some villains I sympathize with too....

Captain Hook

He was fashionable, a PIRATE, rocked a sweet mustache, and he only had one hand.  Give the guy a break.

Jafar

He made me laugh....plus the facial hair!  I mean c'mon!  It's amazing!

I say focus on the truly evil ones and give the rest a break....they're just trying to live their life and drink their milk ok?

Best. Movie. Ever.

The day I saw an awesome movie

Today was a great day.  The sun was shining and it was the perfect temperature.  Jess was in town so we went out...ate lunch outside and went shopping for furniture and appliances for her new townhouse.  Then we went to go see a movie.  We saw this one

And let me tell you....one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen.  Sure it's a little predictable but the way they get to that ending is just...flawless.  The story is based on reality.  In Verona, Italy (where Romeo/Juliet took place) thousands of people flock to Juliet's home and leave her letters.  The lonely, the broken hearted, the confused.  They write letters to Juliet asking for advice.

And there is a group of people dubbed "The Juliet Club" who write back.  They answer every single letter.  There is even a book including some of the letters people have written

The movie starts Amanda Seyfried (who I love) and Vanessa Redgrave (my namesake and one of the most talented and beautiful women in the world)

and of course....him

Such a simple beautiful story based on real life.  It was so touching it brought tears to my eyes more than once.  Heartwarming would be the perfect description of it.

Hope you all had as beautiful of a day as I did!

when kid movies creep you out

My biggest fears in a very particular order

1. Clowns
2. Any insect with the word "pedes" in it
3.This guy

Yeah you remember him.  From the beloved classic movie for children "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".
He was called "The Child Catcher" (yeah you just vomited in your mouth a little didn't you?) and he had this giant nose and he was all "I can smell children" and I was all

Then he would change from his normal black garb into this colorful hat and he would play music, ring bells, and dance around and say "Come on children! Come and get your lollipops!" and he would call them "Kiddie-Winkies" and the kids were like "Yay!" and then he would trap them in his cart and take them underground.

I'm pretty sure this is where the warning "don't take candy from strangers" stemmed from.  I'm also pretty sure this is where the whole "To Catch a Predator" series stemmed from.

Hey Chris Hansen....I got someone for ya.

High highs to low lows to high again

And I'm not talking about the "pass the dutchy on the left hand side" kind of high so...calm down.  Let me give you a run down of the last crazy 24 hours for me (saving the biggest news for last so you have to wait for it)

  • Yesterday I went over and made homemade salsa all afternoon for our Relief Society activity tonight.  They were really delicious so I was happy and proud.
  • Then I got the craziest and most exciting email maybe of my life (that you will have to wait for)
  • Then I went out on a date with my favorite Jessica and we ate AMAZING fish tacos at Rubio's (seriously so so good) and then saw the movie "Date Night"

Oh my hysterical.  Seriously stop what you are doing and go see this movie...now.  I laughed so hard I thought I was going to hyperventilate.  How could you go wrong with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey though?

Ok for the low low...
  • I did not get the job at the place I interviewed on Friday.  They said my interview went really really good but they had someone with many years of experience in a dental office setting...boo!  So I was sad for a few minutes.
But...(back to high again)
  • then I got a call for another interview on Monday.  It's for a personal assistant to a CEO- the benefits sound amazing as is the pay so...fingers crossed on that one!

Now for my grand  huge supersized news.  A couple of months ago I entered a contest on Tyler Hilton's website to be his personal road reporter for his show here in Salt Lake City.  And I got the email yesterday...

That I won!

Can you believe it?  The only thing I've ever won in my life were 2 tickets to see High School Musical on ice and they were expired.  Of course.
So this is kinda a big deal.
I get 2 tickets for his show and a press pass so I have unlimited access to take photo/video of the concert and then I write about it and they post it on his website!  Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me!

And tonight is our relief society activity that I've been working for a week on (so send me good vibes)
and drum roll please...
GLEE! The power of Madonna episode....watch it or don't but if you don't you'll be super lame!
Oh also Life Unexpected (which Jen has been bossing me around to watch) is on too....and yes Jen I will watch it for the love of Pete! :) ha ha I love my friends.
Until next time....
Life is all about ups and downs- so appreciate both, you never know what's around the corner for you.
also...smoking marijuana is illegal so...don't do that.

a move review...in 2 sentences

my dad being the the father of 3 girls has learned a thing or two about what makes them happy.  namely (in no particular order) chocolate, diet coke, edward cullen.  So he made sure that when "New Moon" was released on DVD- he promptly brought it home.  He sat down and watched the last 45 minutes with us.  Here was his professional review of the film.

"Edward is like the Adam Lambert of the vampire kind"

and the even more profound

"You can totally tell a chick wrote this"

I claimed he was being sexist because men have written love stories before (ever heard of Nicholas Sparks?) and how did he know it would be different.  He retorted "because if a guy wrote this book- instead of Bella whining at Jacob not to kill Edward and Jacob listening...Jacob would have ripped her throat out and then killed Edward".
And there you have it folks.  He's such a romantic.  (notice how he did get all their names right...I'm just sayin)

Dear John...

Went and saw this movie last night...

It was beautiful! I highly recommend it! I am not usually a Nicholas Sparks fan because I feel like his books always follow the same pattern.
-North Carolina town
-Troubled boy meets good girl
-Both are broken spirits
-They fall in love
-One of them dies
-You cry

But I randomly picked up a copy of his book "Dear John" and read it while being bored at work. I could not put it down. It did not follow the usual pattern and was more heartbreaking (in a kind of good way) than the others (I sat and cried at the reception desk like a hot mess). I was very excited to see the movie coming out because of Channing Tatum (hellllloooo......)

and I really like Amanda Seyfried. And they were cute together...

It did not disappoint. It was funny, heart warming, beautiful, sad. You will love it and I think it's only rated PG also.
Enjoy!
