The anticipation is over! Friday Spotlight is finally back! Have you been anxiously waiting with bated breath? (I would insert a story here about how my whole life I always thought the phrase was "faded breath" and my dear sweet friend Jen had to correct me but...I'll save myself the embarrassment)
Anyway today's spotlight is my long time friend Kristin Michelle Davis. Kristin and I met at BYU-Idaho many moons ago. That was the year I had the BEST roommates anyone could ever ask for. We had some majorly good times as well as some tough times. But we got through them all like a family and I am so grateful that I have these girls in my life still. Kristin is always the life of the party but always there if you need a friend too which is the best combination in my opinion. So without further ado (what does that even mean?)...I present you with Kristin Michelle.
Three greatest achievements:
1. Graduating college (Go Chico State!)
2. Living in Europe (Germany was an experience)
3. Staying active in the church
Three names you go by:
1. Kristin
2.Sister
3. Dink (by my neices)
Three things that scare you:
1. Heights (I get a little anxious going over bridges but I'm a baby)
2. the dark (I have a big imagination)
3. poor health
*Kristin stays in good health by exercising. Specifically to "Buns of Steel".
To anyone who has not seen/worked out to this video stop what you are doing and do it now. It gives you a great work out but occasionally we would sit down and watch it for pure entertainment purposes. The host of the show Greg Smithy quickly became our mascot (he is not only devilishly handsome but also hilarious). We had a framed picture of him on our TV which I inherited when we moved out (I still have it on my dresser). What can I say...the heart wants what the heart wants.
after some research I found this video...just a little snack for you that will make you desperately want more
*Note to Kristin- sorry for turning this post all about you into a bunch of Greg Smithy word vomit.
Three things that make you happy:
1. Traveling (anywhere along the coast or Europe)
2. good music (especially ones in the park, farmer's markets, or festivals)
3. being with friends and family (cheesy I know)
*might I add our "margarita" nights made Kristin very happy as evidenced in this picture. We used to mix Sprite with those strawberry margarita mixes....so delish and fun (as also evidenced by the paper umbrellas which just scream "good time")
Three things you hate:
1. kidney stones (holy cow those little things are painful)
2. bugs
3. bleu cheese
Three things you are wearing right now:
1. glasses (my new Coach ones :)
2. ring
3. socks (boring white)
*Note to Kristin...did they happen to be "No Nonsense" socks?
Three things about the opposite sex that appeal to you:
1. sense of humor (I probably get that from growing up on "Seinfeld" thanks Dad)
2. smile
3. eyes
Three careers you've considered:
1. social worker
2. art teacher
3. childbirth educator
Three things you want to do before you die:
1. travel (everywhere!!!)
2. get my Masters degree (in what I haven't quite figured out yet)
3. go para sailing again
Describe yourself in one word:
Magical :) (I can't think of a real answer!)
*I would agree Kristin...you are completely magical
And now for no reason at all here is a picture of Kristin looking amazing and me looking a.) homeless and b.) like I'm being strangled by my scarf. This was our very last family dinner!
Kristin I'm like seriously missing you right now!!!! :(

Friday (Tuesday) Spotlight- Beth Gylling
So...Friday Spotlight is late. I know you've all been waiting on the edge of your seats for it so here it finally is. Today's spotlight is my best friend for life. She knows me better than most people do. She is smart, funny, and beautiful. She doesn't like a lot of cheese on her burgers (if at all), knows all the words to almost any Hall & Oates song ever written, and she's allergic to pretty much everything (except for Coldstone ice cream). She is Beth. Beth and I have been on many crazy adventures like Spring Break in high school when we went to Michigan and stole a Caution: Wet sign. I mean....we are hilarious right?

and she's been there for me through really hard things I've gone through. I know that even if it's been 5 months since we've talked to each other on the phone (which it has by the way) that I could always go to her for anything.

She's awesome. So....without further ado I present you with...Beth.
Three Greatest Acheivements:
1. Being a mum (*this is Vanessa speaking...I should warn you- Beth is British. So she says things like "Mum" hopefully you know this means Mom. I'll interpret as needed throughout the rest) - yes I know this is cliche but it truly is the best thing I have ever done!
2. Being a stay at home mum- very different from the above answer...I really wanted to stay home with Brooklyn if I were able to because I know how important it is and I know how much I loved having my mum home with me, but it was a hard decision and it is a hard decision. Sometimes I want to be doing something more with my life but I know the best thing right now is be with Brooklyn
*If I could interject for a moment staying at home with her daughter is so totally the right thing to do...I mean who wouldn't want to stay home with this gorgeous girl?

3. Proving to myself that I can work my way up in the business world- I did well in the banking world and I know I would have continued to do well had I stayed on. Sometimes it is hard to look at ourselves and say that yes I am smart and yes I am a quick learned and my old job gave me that.
Three names you go by:
1. Beth
2. Bethaney Bunny Rabbit- embarrassing to admit yes, but my Nan used to call me that growing up
3. Mum- ha ha weird I know
*Interjecting again- I call Beth "Bethie" which I think she likes a lot
Three things that scare you:
1. Needles
2. Growing old
3. Meeting new people- I have become very shy *which can I (Vanessa) just say is very hard to believe when I think of how Beth flirted with a guy (a guy who had a girlfriend none the less) to get him to give her his store discount at Frye's Electronics once. A task that I have always admired. I bow to you Beth.
Three things that make you happy:
1. My family
2. the beach
3. Football (these aren't the things that make me the happiest....just three things I thought of that make me happy)
Three things you hate:
1. Anxiety
2. How quickly time goes by
3. The way that I went from being super outgoing to being shy- drives me crazy
Three things that you are wearing right now:
1. Socks
2. PJ's
3. Glasses
Three things about the opposite sex that appeals to you:
1. Ambition
2. Athleticism
3. When they treat their family well
Three careers you've considered:
1. Teacher
2. Physical Therapist
3. Banker
Three things you want to do before you die:
1. Go bungee jumping
2. Get my degree
3. Learn to snowboard
Describe yourself in one word:
Wanting (Strange choice I know but right now I find myself thinking of all I want to do and accomplish in my life)

Friday Spotlight - Corinne Freeman
This week's spotlight is a friend that I've had for a long time....since Elementary school to be exact. We lost touch when I moved but no matter what she is always there to lend a listening ear and I really admire that about her. She is crazy creative and artistic and is a mom to 2 adorable kids. For some reason I could not find a single picture of us together. We were both really stubborn and would fight so maybe they were all lost in some post-fight burning ritual? JK....I stole some from her from when we were in Elementary school- warning. They are extremely sexy.
Corinne's house was awesome because she had a pool in her backyard. We spent many summer days swimming and playing around in the backyard. Here we are blowing bubbles with gum. We were total Bad-A's
Our parents let us go Trick or Treating on our own for the first time in 5th grade. We went with our friend Whitney (pictured below as Cleopatra). I'm not sure what Corinne is supposed to be and I am obviously a girl in pigtails and pajamas with clown make up on (aka a baby) *As a side note to Corinne...do you remember when Ben Clements and his older brother chased us around the Baird's front yard wearing all black and masks? What a tool.
And now I present you with Corinne's Questionnaire.
Three Greatest Achievements
1. Giving Birth. Twice! Although I will only count this as one. It probably would have been a greater acheivement if I'd done it au natural and all but seeing as I'm a wimp, I got the best thing known to [wo]man: an epidual
2. Scoring 36 on the language part of the ACT. [don't ask me how I did on math]
3. My art. This is pretty all-encompassing...but being asked to show pieces at several invitation only exhibits and selling a piece to my high school for permanent display and just my creative process in general.
Three Names You Go By:
1. Mommy
2. Shorty
3. C [my mom calls me that]
Three Things That Scare You:
1. Spiders [I get the heebie jeebies just thinking about them]
2. Scary movies
3. My kids growing up to hate and/or resent me
Three things that make you happy:
1. My family
2. Bubble baths [long, hot ones]
3. Coke! Mmm....I want one. Now.
Three things you hate:
1. When my babies are sick/hurting and I can't take it away
2. Feeling helpless
3. Vulgarity...when it's over the top, way too much at once
Three things that you are wearing right now:
1. A T shirt that says "bite me" [it's hubby's, he got it in Salem, MA...it has a big bat on it]
2. Jammie pants! Baggy flannel comfy ones!
3. My big fat diamond on my left finger :)
Three things about the opposite sex that appeal to you:
1. Blue eyes/blond hair
2. Nice butt [my hubby's got the BEST rear end in the world, and I mean that]
3. That ring on my hubby's finger that means he's MINE...muahhahahahaha
Three careers you've considered:
1. Graphic Designer
2. Fashion Designer
3. Art Therapist [specifically working with kids who have been sexually abused]
Three things you want to do before you die:
1. Visit Europe: France, Italy, England...spend hours in art museums
2. Finish my degree
3. Be truly happy with myself
Describe yourself in one word:
That is a hard one....hubby says "wonderful" [then he says PAIN]
I think I would say...passionate
*For my own commentary I would say passionate also...look at her passion for blowing that bubble gum bubble up there. Intense focus and definite passion.
And for no reason at all. Corinne on a horse.
You're welcome.
Stay tuned for next week...you never know. You may see yourself on here.

Spotlight Reversed
So I was thinking of friends to spotlight every Friday and came up with 2 more that I would feature in the next 2 weeks. The first one was ready willing and able (and will be featured tomorrow....get excited!) with no qualms. The other however threw a pseudo hissy fit and demanded that if they were going to fill out "some stupid questions" the least I could do is "fill it out" myself "first". Whatever. So here you go. Spotlight Friday- Jen Chaput
Today is Spotlight Friday which sounds really cheesy. And let's be honest- it is. But it's my blog so if you don't like it find someone else's blog. I have a whole list to the right of your screen of people who don't do this. I'm sure they'd be happy to have you. (You being Jen because I think you're the only person who reads my blog).
However today our spotlight is on Jen (because she is the only one who reads my blog)
Jen is very pretty (she's the one on the right)
I mean seriously. Nic you are a lucky guy.
We have been friends since junior year of high school when we were both trapped in this strange vortex that is called the high school drama program (and apparently Jen wore fedoras and danced in my room)
We were the coolest ones there though. So I sent her this questionnaire and here were here answers.
Three of your greatest achievements
1. Being married and sincerely working at it [seriously I conquered a lifetime of hating on marriage with that little step
2. Having Logan [literally labor, WOW]
3.Having great friends (Jen then proceeded to go on and on about what a great friend I am which I don't want to put on here because it might make everyone else feel bad about the kind of friend they are)
Three names you go by
1. Jenny
2. Jen
3. Love Face [I would say "mama" but Logan has used it to refer to both me and cats, so we'll wait on that one]
Three things that scare you
1. Living without people knowing I love Jesus through my actions
2. When Nic creeps up behind me and I don't notice
3. Public restroom- seriously people- WASH YOUR HANDS!
Three things that make you happy
Three things you hate
1. Cigarettes
2. Burning my tounge on hot coffee
3. When Jesus doesn't get the mad props He deserves
Three things you are wearing right now
1. Stupidly, the belt that makes me break out because I'm allergic to metal
2. Slippers for my cold feet
3. my wedding ring
[I'm not naked aside from those things just so we're clear]
Three things of the opposite sex that appeal to you
1. How kind they are to others
2. Their smile
3. How rich they are...ha ha kidding- how they love Jesus
Three careers you've considered
1. Teacher
2. Youth Pastor
3. ASL interpreter
(might I add a surfer's wife- pretty much Jen was obsessed with surfers. might I also add we lived in Indiana where surfers are...non existent so...there's that)
Three things you want to do before you die
1. See everyone I really love know Jesus
2. Have better posture
3. hmm...I don't know the third. Heaven will be so much more fulfilling than this life so....? How about not live in a way that would make me cringe any more than I'll already have to when I meet Jesus...ha ha
Describe yourself in one word
alive
This is my favorite picture of Jen. She is dancing and really into it. Perfectly depicts her.

And for no reason at all Logan, Jen's son. Umm...because he's adorable, builds forts, and only eats food if it has maple syrup on it. Yeah you want to be his friend too don't you?
And since this was the debut of Spotlight Friday I would love to know what you think. Unless you're going to tell me to stop. I won't even publish that comment.

1. I hate using my family over and over so I'll just say "family" generally, cause you know Nic and Logan are my boys
2. Great music
3. New....everything. I'll just say shopping at Target where I obviously get all the new things that I love
