So while you're sitting around your house/apartment/work area/igloo/mud hut
just reflecting on life and wondering what to get me for my birthday (*cough* which is in 4 days *cough, cough*)
May I suggest these....
That is all.
(coming up: a deeper insight into my odd and deep love for silly bandz bracelets)

Hit Me Baby One More Time
I remember when I was 12 years old this girl named Britney Spears released an album. I was completely hooked. I learned the dances, played the CD CONSTANTLY, made up my own music videos to her songs, I even bought knee socks.
I'm not joking.
Britney Spears literally changed my life. I know that sounds a bit dramatic but it's true. I know she gets a bad wrap but let's be honest- she changed pop music. At the time there were ZERO pop stars out there that were female (I'm not counting Madonna...she's been around forever). After Britney came Christina, Jessica, Mandy, etc....but she started it.
Glee tonight paid tribute to Britney and it was awesome.
Reminded me of how obsessed I was with this music video when it was released. I was in 7th grade and I would literally sit in front of MTV every day after school just waiting for them to play it.
Say what you will about Britney. To me she will always be amazing.

Walking On Sunshine
I really do love Glee so much. This is one of my favorite scenes of all time. Sorry the sound quality is so low but I needed one with Rachel's speech at the beginning. This is a motto that I live by:
"Thank you so much, it really is a pleasure. While the boys chose a selection of songs that cast an eye inward on the irresponsible life choices and sexual hunger of today's modern teens, we've chosen a selection of songs that speaks to the nation as a whole during these troubling times filled with economic uncertainty and unbridled social woe because if there's two things America needs right now, it's sunshine and optimism....also angels!"

I was recently introduced to this incredible musician Thao. Her songs "Bag of Hammers" and "Body" are two of my favorites. I was really excited to find out that Dianna Agron (who plays Quinn on my fave show "Glee") was directing the music video for "Body". They gave exclusive rights to air the video to Oxfam who help those in poverty and they just do really great work. I thought I would share the video with you. I think the concept and the way it all came out is just...impeccable.
I hope you enjoy it!

High highs to low lows to high again
And I'm not talking about the "pass the dutchy on the left hand side" kind of high so...calm down. Let me give you a run down of the last crazy 24 hours for me (saving the biggest news for last so you have to wait for it)
Oh my hysterical. Seriously stop what you are doing and go see this movie...now. I laughed so hard I thought I was going to hyperventilate. How could you go wrong with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey though?
Ok for the low low...
Now for my grand huge supersized news. A couple of months ago I entered a contest on Tyler Hilton's website to be his personal road reporter for his show here in Salt Lake City. And I got the email yesterday...
Can you believe it? The only thing I've ever won in my life were 2 tickets to see High School Musical on ice and they were expired. Of course.
So this is kinda a big deal.
I get 2 tickets for his show and a press pass so I have unlimited access to take photo/video of the concert and then I write about it and they post it on his website! Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me!
And tonight is our relief society activity that I've been working for a week on (so send me good vibes)
and drum roll please...
GLEE! The power of Madonna episode....watch it or don't but if you don't you'll be super lame!
Oh also Life Unexpected (which Jen has been bossing me around to watch) is on too....and yes Jen I will watch it for the love of Pete! :) ha ha I love my friends.
Until next time....
Life is all about ups and downs- so appreciate both, you never know what's around the corner for you.
also...smoking marijuana is illegal so...don't do that.
- Yesterday I went over and made homemade salsa all afternoon for our Relief Society activity tonight. They were really delicious so I was happy and proud.
- Then I got the craziest and most exciting email maybe of my life (that you will have to wait for)
- Then I went out on a date with my favorite Jessica and we ate AMAZING fish tacos at Rubio's (seriously so so good) and then saw the movie "Date Night"
Oh my hysterical. Seriously stop what you are doing and go see this movie...now. I laughed so hard I thought I was going to hyperventilate. How could you go wrong with Steve Carrell and Tina Fey though?
Ok for the low low...
- I did not get the job at the place I interviewed on Friday. They said my interview went really really good but they had someone with many years of experience in a dental office setting...boo! So I was sad for a few minutes.
- then I got a call for another interview on Monday. It's for a personal assistant to a CEO- the benefits sound amazing as is the pay so...fingers crossed on that one!

what it feels like for a girl
Strong inside but you don't know it
Good little girls they never show it
When you open up your mouth to speak
Could you be a little weak
Do you know what it feels like for a girl
Do you know what it feels like in this world
For a girl
Hair that twirls on finger tips so gently, baby
Hands that rest on jutting hips repenting
Hurt that's not supposed to show
And tears that fall when no one knows
When you're trying hard to be your best
Could you be a little less
Do you know what it feels like for a girl
Do you know what it feels like in this world
What it feels like for a girl
Strong inside but you don't know it
Good little girls they never show it

What It Feels Like For a Girl: Madonna
I've always been a huge Madonna fan. As I child I had the "True Blue" album on cassette tape and I would dress in my pink/blue polka dot bathing suit (with attached ruffle) and dance around my room singing "Open Your Heart", "True Blue", "Borderline", "Papa Don't Preach" (no I didn't know that song was about pregnancy out of wedlock). I was obsessed. Another one of her song's...a more recent one...called "What It Feels Like For a Girl" is one I've really really liked. It's all about female empowerment. Basically guys put down girls and girls silence themselves because it's what they "should" do. Yes we've come a long way as a society and empowering women but there is still a stigma attached to being a girl. We're "emotional", "weak", "needy". Yep sometimes I'm all three of those things. But sometimes I'm detached, strong, independent. Women are so many many things. If you have a chance listen to this song. I really love it.
Also if you're looking for a really cool version of this song and you're looking to fall more in love with the boys from "Glee" check this out.
*On Tuesday Glee dedicates an entire episode to the music of Madonna. Do you have your DVR's set yet???

gleeky quote of the day
"My father always said you become a man when you buy your first house. I'm not sure what he meant by that since he burned ours down once after a drunken fight with my mom."
-Will Schuester
I would like to apologize ahead of time for the Spanish subtitles in this video- but I didn't want to be prejudice against my readers who hable espanol (I'm very international and culturally aware like that)

gleeky quote of the day
I love Sue Sylvester. She is so funny. I could probably post one of her quotes every day until April 13th and still not run out. Here is another one for you.
"I'll often yell at homeless people 'Hey how's that homelessness working out for you? Give NOT being homeless a try!'"
-Sue Sylvester
And just in case you were thirsty for more:

I've also decided to include video clips. So that you fall in love like I have.

gLeek
I am a total Glee nerd. A Gleek if you will.
Obsessed with this show. They've been on their winter hiatus and I am so desperate for it to come back. April 13th.
Can't wait. To commemorate the occasion I will be sharing a different quote everyday from this show.
Today's quote:
"Sometimes people ask me, "Sue, how come you're so sensitive to minorities?" Well, I'll tell you why. Because I know firsthand how hard it is to struggle as a minority in America today. I'm 1/16th Comanche Indian. In fact, I like minorities so much, I'm thinking of moving to California to become one."

gLee
So last night I was finally able to watch the pilot episode of the new fall Fox show
Glee
I fell in love immediately.
The show is funny, smart, and brilliant.
PLUS it is filled with great music!
The kid in it is obsessed with 80's music...especially Journey and I pretty much felt as if I had met my soulmate.
The teacher has been married to his high school sweetheart/cheerleader for 5 years and she is a total...not nice person who wants him to quit glee. In the meantime he has another teacher at the school who has a big time crush on him but he is of course oblivious. The kids who are in glee are all rejects until the captain of the football team gets "tricked" into joining.
If you get a chance watch it at hulu.com
I promise you won't be disappointed.
In the meantime check out this video of the kids singing their song "Don't Stop Believin"...if that didn't get me hooked on this show I don't know what would! :)

For those of you who don't know the show is about a Spanish teacher who was once in the Glee Club at the same school he teaches at.
When the glee teacher gets fired he offers to take over but he program is greatly overshadowed by the "Cheerios" or the performing cheerleading squad. Because all their budget goes into football and cheerleading the principal tells this teacher that he will actually have to PAY $60 a month to keep glee club around.
