Reunited and it feels so good.....

Hi friends!  I know!  Quite the hiatus!  I was trying to think of what to write about as like a...."welcome back" so to speak....should it be fashion?  make up?  an open letter to Bradley Cooper accepting his marriage proposal???  The possibilities seemed endless....and then I went off Diet Coke for a week (yeah I know...again) and had a mental breakdown and did something crazy and even though it's super personal.....I'm going to share with you!  We're all friends here anyway right?
Do you guys remember how emotionally charged "Heads Up 7 Up" was in elementary school?  For those of you who didn't play this game and think I'm crazy...here's a quick description.  So "Heads Up 7 Up" was like a roller coaster ride ESPECIALLY if your crush was one of the ones picking people and YOU were chosen.  And you stood up and crossed your fingers so hard that they were the ones who chose you and this was the start of your forever (yes....I was a semi-dramatic 9 year old)  The terrible thing they never tell you is that anytime you have feelings for someone it's going to be the same feeling.  Love is not a battlefield, it's a game of Heads Up 7 Up and we're all just hoping that the person we've picked has already picked us.
Where am I going with this?  Well recently I had these feelings for someone.  This is how I usually react when I have feelings for someone: I get weird.  I actually put a TON of distance between me and that person so that NO ONE will start to pick up on how I feel which makes absolutely no sense but it's what a lot of us do.  This time I did something completely out of the norm.....and I told that person about how I was feeling.
And it was TERRIFYING.
I will be honest with you...this did not end up exactly ideally but it wasn't terrible and there is a HUGE freedom in just saying what you're feeling!  So I guess I tell this story just because it was a huge lesson for me.  Saying how you're feeling is never going to ruin you.  Yes at times you could feel uncomfortable or awkward but the actual pain comes from the regret of the unsaid.
Whatever you need to say....say it.  Don't wait.  Apologize, say "I love you"....whatever it is.  You will never regret it.  I promise.
On that note....I have some things I need to say to Adam Levine that can't wait and that I almost certainly WILL regret....
I hope you're all doing well.  Thanks for sticking around....look forward to an actual update filled with pictures and news!  Yeah...I know you're looking forward to that.  I leave you now with a picture of me and my dog....because I know you've missed these.
Right?

my life according to my picture phone

So since I really don't have anything special to update you on I thought I would share some pictures that I took recently on my phone.

Pictures from the celebration for my Dad's work...

The display hanging from the ceiling in the front entry of the museum...it's gorgeous!

 Our dinner was YUM

Dessert bar...served mini chocolate chip cookies with a shot of chocolate milk.  Adorbs right???

Some more of the dessert bar....with open flames!

I was clearly obsessed with this display...

 Floral arrangements with Runts?  Yes.

One of the exhibits....Human Rights Photographers...it was a BEAUTIFUL and at times heartbreaking exhibit.

I also took some hipster "Instagram" photos....

Me with my friends Maggie and Jenna at our friend Morgan's baby shower

 My dog...Colt

I wore milkmaid braids...it was a weird day

I'm clearly very mature and classy

So that's what's been going on in my life lately.
Also I'm curious to know if you guys have a favorite post or something on the blog you like/don't like?  My comment section is open to suggestion and high fives.  Let me know!!!

Weird Stuff

Surprisingly enough even with all the crazy things that we see in this world....I can still be shocked by things.  I could tell you the recent items that have induced this shocked feeling OR even better...I could show you.

1.) Hoffsicles

Yes.  Popsicle in the shape of a full grown David Hasselhoff.  This makes me incredibly uncomfortable.  Are we supposed to give these to children?  Do we call CPS first?  I don't know what the protocol for this is.  Do us all a favor Hoff....stick to the music.

2.) Monkey Babies
Remember that show "My Monkey Baby"?  If you've been reading this blog for about a year (no one) then you definitely remember monkey babies.  BUT have no fear because clicking {here} will refresh your memory.  Ok so now you've been sufficiently creeped out....remember the show "My Fake Baby" where the people had baby dolls made to look like real babies and they would push them around in strollers?  Yes?  Or more likely..no?  Well don't worry because clicking {here} will take you to that sad depiction of life in this world.  So now that we're all bummed out and thinking that there's really no hope left....(yaaayyy) let's COMBINE those two things and purchase this

Are you freaked out because I am.
*sidenote Remember when that chimpanzee ate that woman's face off?  This baby could eff you up.  I'd be scared.

3.) I don't really have a number 3 but I thought it would look lame with only two.

So enjoy this day of weirdness!  If you find any more weird stuff send it my way.

And seriously....don't Hassle the Hoff.

Also: if you're looking for an appropriate birthday gift for me (it's on October 25th this year...same as last year) might I suggest this

Oh yeah...it's happening.

hello!

Why hello again blogging friends!  It's great to meet you again.  I apologize for having gone missing from y'alls lives like that.
And I know you're sad too.

But I'm back and really have nothing of significance to share with you.  So....let's talk about other people's lives!
Television is going fantastic isn't it?  I love summer television.  It's so much more mind numbing.  Nothing I love more than laying in the sun listening to music all day...getting just the right amount of sunburned, and then coming back into the air conditioned house and watching terrible people doing terrible things.  Some current favorites:

1. The Bachelorette - Monday ABC
I don't have much to say about this season.  Ashley bores me.  I think she's still super insecure with herself and I don't think any of her potential relationships will work out.  I think she needs to work on herself a little bit more before she tries to find herself in a relationship...just sayin.

2. Real Housewives of New Jersey - Sunday Bravo
My favorite series of housewives.  They are the most real to me.  The Manzo family is the greatest thing on television.  And so so funny.

3. The Glee Project - Sunday Oxygen
I was apprehensive about this one because....it seemed dumb.  But I watched the first episode and now I can't stop! I love seeing all the talent these kids have!

4. Teen Mom - Tuesday MTV
Here is a run down on the first episode of Teen Mom: 1. Farrah wants a boob job...I'm sorry..."needs" a boob job.  She did breast feed for a week so...justified I guess.  She can't afford a boob job so she needs a loan.  She calls people and says "Hi I need a loan for a breast augmentation" with a straight face.  Touche.... 2. I don't really remember anything else because pretty much the entire first episode was about Farrah wanting boobs, Farrah getting boobs, Farrah's mom with the dead eyes who made her get a will written up just in case she died while getting boobs.  Boobs.

5. Big Brother - Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday CBS
Anyone who knows me knows that this is my absolute favorite show of all time.  And this season especially because they brought back some of my favorites!  It's already been hilarious and I can't wait for the rest of the season to unfold.  I mean...in the first episode they had to hang on giant bananas so....I don't know what's not to like.

6. White Collar - Tuesday USA
If you aren't watching this show....just...don't ever talk to me again.  And as if that glowing review wasn't enough for you...just have this:

Yeah...now you wanna set your TiVo....

If you were wondering if I actually watch all of these shows.....the answer is yes.  If you were wondering if I'm still single...just answer that on your own.
Another story about work for you...I had a lady who came in carrying around a full grown cat who wanted a make over. Pretty much a metaphor for my entire life.

In true Monday tradition...here is a collage of my weekend!  It was quite eventful as you can see...
my weekend

At least I washed my hair.  I found it important that you know that.

I've been listening to some great new music lately so look forward to a new playlist sometime in the near future.  I'm on vacation from work for the ENTIRE WEEK so yay for me!!!

Happy Monday!

Welcome to the family.

sometimes....

Sometimes I am very tired after being at work for an unreasonable amount of time.

Sometimes some idiot says it's going to be the end of the world.

Sometimes this means that we eat "end of the world fudge" at work.  And it's delicious.

Sometimes I also confess my long suppressed feelings for Vanilla Ice because hey...if it's going to be the end of the world...I may as well come clean.

Sometimes I haven't shaved my legs in a week

Sometimes my diet consists of soft pretzels from Pretzelmaker and Diet Coke.

Sometimes I drink 5 Diet Cokes in 1 day (ok a lot of the time...but what else am I supposed to drink...water?)

Sometimes I listen to the song "arms" by Christina Perri about a billion times.

Sometimes I get stuck in traffic on the interstate for a good hour.  And we're talking literally parked...as in no moving.  As in...it's 12:30 AM and I'm on the interstate instead of in my bed.

Sometimes I bawl my eyes out while watching
1. Oprah
2. Season Finale of One Tree Hill
3. Pretty much every episode of Glee

Sometimes I'm overly emotional.

Sometimes I take sad face pictures with my bestie Jenna in the stock room at work.

Sometimes it's Gift With Purchase time at the Lancome counter and I'm exhausted, irritable, emotional, and malnourished.

So sometimes I have a boring blog post because SOMETIMES all I want to do is sleep.

Sometimes.

p.s. had a great response on the giveaway.  I'm putting it together.  Will take pic and post tomorrow!  Get excited.....

We can all pretty much agree that opossums are basically creatures of Satan right?

I rest my case.

Top That!

This video will be the perfect start to your week.

Does anyone else remember this movie? (Jen...I'm talking to you here). It's called "Teen Witch" for those who aren't 80's teen movie savvy like myself. It was like...one of my favorites.
And would you think less of me if I admitted I had the smallest crush on that funky rapper?
Because I did.

Top That!

Make your week count. Obviously I'm already getting started on it.

Pinky Promise

Once the absolute craziness of work dies down a little bit I pinky swear that you will have the following updates

1. 2 count them TWO Bachelor updates
2. A sad and terrible account of my night of inventory at work and the disasters that ensued (get the Kleenex out for this one.  It's practically a Nicolas Sparks novel.  Without the cancer, hurricane, or man who loves me.)  Note to my mom readers: You can send a box of Kleenex to a friend at www.kleenex.com.  Maybe y'all should band together and send each other boxes!  Yes? No? Yes?
3. A recount of the 11 days in which I was single parent.  And how grateful my siblings were when my negligent reign was over (shout out to CPS!  You're good people.)
4. A list of reasons why I should be President  (such as 1. Glee kids would sing at every major meeting)
5. The reason to why I sleep with a crowbar next to my bed.

That's all for now.  I have to get some sleep.  I wish going to bed early felt as good as sleeping in.  Just to let you know.....(especially if you or your family lives in the Provo area) I am doing pre-orders for our Spring gift with purchase through the weekend!  It's SO CUTE!  It's a 6 piece free gift with any purchase of $32.50 or more plus I always add in a few extra goodies for friends/family.  Comment if I can hook you up!  (I will ship to you as well if you need me to!.....and I work for Lancome.  You should probably know that.  Check out some of their cute new stuff for spring on the website and then let me know!)

I would also like to point out that I don't remember a time when I put on a jacket and didn't find a Tylenol PM in the pocket.  Guys, I dare you not to marry me.

xoxo,
Gossip Girl
Vanessa

P.S. And just because I have a firm belief that every post should have a picture....here is what you get when you type "pig with boots" into Google.  You're welcome.

Unsaid

Real life is a funny thing, you know. In real life, saying the right thing at the right moment is beyond crucial. So crucial, in fact, that most of us start to hesitate, for fear of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. And so I don't say anything.
And I am left to wonder what if? What if? No two words put together can haunt someone as much as those.

If they were to die tomorrow, wouldn't I have wanted them to know how I feel. I just wish it was still socially acceptable to just be honest and open with our feelings. Life would be so much easier.

(I know this post seems super random but....it's not.)

And thank you to The Fray for providing the perfect song for this feeling-
