Uh Time Machine please?

So I'm sure a lot of you have seen this disturbing ad that Ralph Lauren released...

Disgusting right? I first saw it on the Bonnie Hunt show and she was talking about how different these days are compared to say...the 1940's. These were the ads circling around in the 1940's...

Versus now.

It's sad isn't it? Some famous women that were admired in the 1940's were

Bette Davis

Natalie Wood

Judy Garland

Katharine Hepburn

and my personal favorite Mae West (I love her!)

and now this is what society finds sexy?

Don't get me wrong...those women in the 1940's were gorgeous. But they had curves! And they were real and not botoxed, fake baked, bleach blonded that has come to be known as beautiful these days.
By the way...this is what that model actually looked like before they photo shopped her.

Oh and another thing...she was fired by the company for being "too fat". Seriously???
It's just really horrible to see. What made us change our views? Hollywood? And why do we let them dominate our views?
A perfect example is Heidi Montag/Pratt from The Hills. This was her Season 1-2 of the show...

and now.

Personally I think that we as a society and women in society need to just take care of ourselves and love ourselves. Be happy and healthy and don't live by a standard that someone else made for you.
