Bachelorette Update...

So I'm back for my Bachelorette update...I haven't been blogging about it lately because I've been so mad because the following things happened...
1. Wes the shady D Bag is still there
2. Stupid idiotic Jillian got rid of Jake
3. ED LEFT! to back to his "job" whatever ED!

So I was a bit bitter. The following things happened on the last episode...
1. Wes was still a shady D Bag
2. Jake came back and outed Wes on having a girlfriend
3. Stupid idiotic Jillian kept Wes around ANYWAY
4. ED CAME BACK!!!!

My mom, sisters, and I have this random poll going. We all picked a guy at the beginning of the season before we really knew anything about them (so basically we picked them on how they look...) and then if your guy happens to win or whos ever goes the farthest...wins.
Mom's was Jake....sorry Mom you're out.

Calah's was Kipton...still in the game and still very cute.

Sissy picked Robby...she doesn't really care or watch the show anyway but her guy is still out.

And I of course picked ED.

I kind of wish Ed had stayed gone though because as much as I love seeing him...I do not like Jillian anymore. She is just a stupid girl who can't see things right in front of her. Ed deserves better. Like maybe... me.
Just sayin...
Nobody picked Wes. Go figure.

But Wait...There's More!

RIP Billy Mays...I will miss you yelling at me to buy all your amazing products...

The King of Pop

Today June 25th 2009 the first musical idol I ever had...died. I was and still am in shock. Michael Jackson is dead...? I seriously still can't believe it. Growing up I listened to a lot of different music but MJ will always stand out to me. My first words as a kid were "Who's Bad?"...yeah it explains a lot I know. I remember the hours I spent in front of the TV trying desperately to learn the dances to "Beat It" and of course "Thriller". I remember first hearing the song "Billie Jean" and falling totally in love with it. I was actually pretty in love with Michael himself as well. Seeing the music video for "Gone Too Soon" dedicated to Ryan White reduces me to tears everytime. I know Michael wasn't always necessarily a stand up role model (ie dangling his baby off a balcony) and there was always controversy surrounding him (but in the "Hollywood" scene isn't there always?). I will always respect him as a musical ground breaker and an artistic genius. He was truly gifted and special. His talent will greatly be missed in my life as well as the music industry...
Here are some videos in remembrance for you viewing pleasure.
Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
~Michael Jackson "Heal the World"

Slash and Michael together? Dream come true! And who remembers the brilliant moon walk???

and of course the song that started it all for me...

If you get a chance you should watch some of his old music videos on YouTube...they are so theatrical...they are like mini movies...so brilliant.
Favorites of mine include:
The Way You Make Me Feel
PYT
Billie Jean
Smooth Criminal

Not Too Far From Here...

Somebody's down to their last dime
Somebody's running out of time
Not too far from here
Somebody's got nowhere else to go
Somebody needs a little hope
Not too far from here
And I may not know their name
But I'm praying just the same
That You'll use me Lord to wipe away a tear
Cause somebody's crying
Not too far from here

Somebody's troubled and confused
Somebody's got nothing left to lose
Not too far from here
Somebody's forgotten how to trust
Somebody's dying for love
Not too far from here
It may be a stranger's face
But I'm praying for Your grace
To move in me and take away the fear
Cause somebody's hurting
Not too far from here

Help me Lord not to turn away from pain
Help me not to rest while those around me weep
Give me Your strength and compassion
When somebody finds the road of life too steep

Somebody's troubled and confused
Somebody's got nothing left to lose
Not too far from here
Somebody's forgotten how to trust
And somebody's dying for love
Not too far from here
Now I'm letting down my guard
And I'm opening my heart
Help me speak Your love to every needful ear
Someone is waiting not too far from here

These are lyrics to a song called "Not Too Far From Here" by Hilary Weeks. A couple of weeks ago in Relief Society we had one of the best lessons I've ever had. It was all about service. Serving your family, friends, even strangers. It was a beautifully taught lesson (thanks Sis Fordham)...it made me think a lot about how grateful I am for my job. For the fact that every night I go to work I have the chance to make a difference for someone or for a member of their family. I have a chance to calm someone's fears, help them do things they can't, and comfort those who lose someone they love. It is such a blessing and a life lesson in service. They say the only way to find yourself is to lose yourself in others. I believe that is so true. So as you go about your week...look ways to serve others. It doesn't have to be major...just something small. You never know who needs you somewhere not to far from here.
You can listen to the song HERE if you want...it's really beautiful (I was sobbing like newborn baby when I heard it the first time)

To My Best Friend

Today marks the 23rd Birthday of my best friend
Beth
or Bethie as I call her

To commemorate this special occasion I would like to tell you a story.

Once upon a time there was a girl named Vanessa. In her junior year of high school she was going through some hard times. She was fighting with her best friend and her other best friend was moving to Utah. Now we all know this is a critical time in a high school girls life...she would need a best friend. What was she to do?
Then along came a girl named Beth. She was from England and if we're being honest...she was a little crazy. Vanessa thought Beth hated her (and later found out that Beth actually did hate her for about a week) but then as fate would have it...on the day of high school registration Vanessa received a phone call. She could barely understand the girl on the other end of the line because her British accent was so thick. It was Beth asking if Vanessa would go with her to registration and show her around. Of course Vanessa said yes because she had no other friends.
They met up and along for the ride were Vanessa's crazy parents. Vanessa figured that would be the last she saw of the British girl because her Dad would inevitably have scared her off.
Apparently British people can tolerate a lot of craziness.
Beth and Vanessa became wonderful friends.
Especially after they both fell head over heels for 2 football players.
It was pretty much all they talked about.
They eventually finished high school- went to their separate collages but always stayed the best of friends...(without the football players)

Over the years there were....
fights about: friends and American Idol vs. Red Wings games
tears about: friends and boys and silly drama
There was however a LOT of laughter about: friends, boys, silly drama, Olive Garden trips, silly made up songs, crawling out of cars in the middle of the night, trips to the park late at night, pretty much everything that happened on their trips to Michigan.

There were times when one or the other was having a hard time. These times involved ice cream (Coldstone) and a trip to the park or the airport for some much needed venting.
There were the traditional Monday nights involving ice cream (Coldstone....remember when the guys that worked there knew us?) and The Hills.
And then the fateful day happened...Beth met a boy. A summer boy. And everything changed. Vanessa had seen Beth date many boys - and she had kissed a few frogs...

From the minute Beth started talking about this boy...Vanessa knew he was different than all the others..
His name was Brett

and Beth fell madly and hopelessly in love with him.

Beth left Vanessa and moved to California to be with Brett and on June 14th 2007 Beth and Brett got married.

Now there are no more trips to get ice cream, crazy Olive Garden trips, driving around aimlessly or silly sleep overs.

But there are still phone calls involving venting, tears and a LOT of laughter. And now Beth will be having a baby and she will make the most AMAZING mom in the world.

Beth you will always be the best friend I have ever had. You know me better than most. You know exactly what I need to hear even if I don't want to hear it. You can always make me laugh and you will always be the one who just "gets" me. I love more than a friend but more like a sister.
Happy Birthday Best Friend!
Hope it's wonderful and I wish I could be there to celebrate with you!
(Happy birthday to her husband Brett as well...they share a birthday!)

I thought that in traditional fashion I would share some notes that Beth wrote me in High School.
*Beth it was hard finding one that didn't talk about how much drama was going on in Young Womens and how much we disliked certain people...

These crack me up for 3 reasons...
1. we were so silly
2. I read these and I can totally hear you saying all of these things
3. Could we have been more in "love" with those stupid boys?

Oh memories.

Out and About

It's been a fun and adventurous few days...Kian and I enjoyed a photo session.
Then my friends Emma and Rhiannon and I decided it would be fun to go see a free concert at the park.
The band was called "Meet the Beetles"
They were a...you guessed it...Beatles tribute band.
It ended up being a blast. The band members were totally decked out and referred to themselves as John, George, Ringo, and Paul.
Good times.
I also got to see a mini car that was promoting dentistry and had a toothbrush on it. It was amazing.
Hope you're having as much fun as me!

My Favorite...

...Summer Snack is...

Frozen grapes
try and you will not be disappointed

It's All Right Cause I'm Saved by the Bell...

So Jimmy Fallon has been petitioning the actors from "Saved By the Bell" to do a reunion special on his show...so far the people who have responded yes are...
Mr. Belding
Lisa
Slater

I thought Jimmy was going to have to basically turn water in to wine to get...
Jessie
Kelly
Screech
and of course my first love...Zack Morris.
Last night while watching Jimmy Fallon this delightful little miracle happened...

it could not get any better than this...for more entertainment see how Jimmy had Slater accept his place in the reunion...classic.

I love Hockeytown!

Here's wishing my boys good luck in the 6th game of the Stanley Cup Finals...
You win this one and you win it all!
Go Red Wings! Beat the Penguins! (Penguins are just birds who can't fly anyway...)
I know they are going to win the Stanley Cup for a few reasons...
1. Kris Allen won American Idol, Shawn Johnson won Dancing With The Stars, Steelers won the Super Bowl...all factors
2. You beat the Penguins last year in game 6 and I know you can do it again.
3. Your last game you won 5-0....uh were the Penguins even playing?
and last but not least...
4. Sidney Crosby...captain of the Penguins...this is NOT a playoff beard.

Please take note of my boyfriend Henrik Zetterberg's playoff beard...

he can teach you how to be a man AND how to win a Stanley Cup so watch carefully...
some videos to get you pumped up...

Happy Feet

So I don't know if I mentioned it but for Easter I got the Ped Egg that I've been (not so) secretly desiring for so long. I've been following a strict egg regime. I ped egg every other day and slather my pieds (that fancy french for feet) with lotion...
Today I was just sitting watching my new favorite show "Southern Belles: Louisville" (more on that later) and reached down to rub my foot...and I felt...nothing. No dry cracked heels, no dryness at all! I was shocked and amazed. I was starting to think that years of wearing flip flops and ballet flats and nurse shoes had permanently damaged my feet for good...but thanks to the wonders of modern infomercials my feet are just dying to be touched- probably only by that creepy Tanner P. on the Bachelorette...but I digress. If any of you are also suffering from this horrible condition of dry feet...the ped egg can be purchased for 9.99 at your local Walgreens or CVS.

And if you're into people who copy other people's ideas...Dr. Scholls (quack) just came out with a "Smooth My Sole" which is basically the exact same thing as the ped egg only more expensive and pink.

Do they really expect girls to be so superficial that they can be seduced by the same product only in pink? C'mon...who do you think we are (please keep me far away from the foot care aisle at the store...)

Stepford...

I was recently looking up pictures of Katie Holmes's engagement ring when she got engaged to
Tom Cruise because it's one of my most favorite rings I've ever seen and I'm gonna need to find a guy who can pretty much afford to get me it's twin...(just a side note to all the many guys lining up around the block wanting a piece of this...)

Amazing right?
So anyway- in my quest I was coming across many pictures of the happy couple and I noticed something rather interesting...when TomKat started dating they looked so happy...I mean Katie was practically sparkling she looked so happy.

Then came the hair cut and also 4 years of wedded bliss to this guy...

and now she looks like this...

weirder still...

I was curious and decided to compare to his previous wife Nicole Kidman.
Before marriage...

And...
Pretty creepy. The only 2 explanations I can come up with are
1. Brainwashing
2. Vampire-ism
Please Katie Holmes if you and Tom are sitting around in your weird Scientology house and Tom says..."Kate...I have a great idea for a movie starring you and me..."

Run for you life. Remember his last 2 ideas where the leading lady is his real life leading lady?

Yeah.

On a side note...someone else sucking the life and general hottness out of people?
This one.

Before...

And now...

I wonder what would happen if Tom and Angelina got together....?

TomAlina anyone?

Bachelorette...

I just want to say right now...yes I love the Bachelorette and I also have to say right now that my favorite guy is Ed.

I don't know...ever since the first episode there is just something about him that I like.
I also like Jake

but Ed edges him out just a bit.

We'll see how it plays out- hopefully better than that jerk Jason's Bachelor season worked out...
Don't worry I'll keep ya posted all the way up until that final rose.

Kian says the Darndest Things...

Last week I was walking out the front door to go to work and my little brother shouts...
"Bye! Have fun wiping people's butts!"
At least I have my family to keep me humble...
